I was a care worker being paid to stay over in clients’ homes when they weren’t well. I started doing Slivers around that. I was booked one Tuesday afternoon to answer calls on a payroll helpine at Leeds Council. They obviously liked me because I was booked again for later in the week. Then they said they’d like me as often as I could work. The care assignments were drying up so I ended up doing ten solid weeks on the helpline.

I used to work in Purchase Ledger for a water company, so the payroll was something I was happy with. They were expecting a peak in calls to the helpline for a few months but thought it would all go quiet after that. They have full time staff who can cope outside the peaks.

I want some more variety in my work. I’m looking forward to what comes my way in Slivers from now on.
