I read about Slivers-of-Time Working in the paper. I rang the agency. My first question was 'is there an age limit?' I have severe arthritis, but I want to stay engaged. I do want to do a few hours of work a week to keep my hand in.

Most of my career I was in the entertainment business. I had a 12 piece band, we'd play all the big dance halls. But Rank and Mecca closed them down and converted them to discos. Then I moved into direct selling and eventually set up my own Window business. It did quite well.

I've just started working Slivers. I've done bookings for a local business that needs extra telesales help. It's ideal. I sit down all the time, it uses my experience and the manager really supports me. If my arthritis eases in the summer I want to start expanding beyond sales type bookings.
