I am on Incapacity Benefit. I was doing voluntary work until I heard about Slivers. Now I do mini-shifts on reception at a building that’s a door-to-door bus ride from home. I’m hoping to get a permanent job eventually.

3 years ago I was cleaning lampshades and crashed off the ladder. My knee and all the ligaments were badly damaged. Now I have to spend most of the day with my leg up on a chair. And it’s hard to travel. I wanted to work but no-one was interested in my applications.

I’d spent 32 years working in factories and shops before my accident. But I needed a much gentler type of work afterwards. At the time I didn’t know anything about computers. I didn’t even know how to turn them on. But I went on two courses and now I am very comfortable with them. I love the Slivers site.
