I was surprised how hard it is to find a job for 3 days a week. I tried to get bar work, shop work and office work. But when you apply, they want to tell you the hours you have to work. You can’t tell them. I was just failing to get interviews. I already have a 3 hours a week job that I love. And I do tutoring, so I’ll be using Slivers to work around these commitments and my studies.
I’m studying philosophy. I want to be a writer, ideally a published poet. I heard about Slivers at a University jobs fare. I like the idea of deciding the hours I want to work and then working for a variety of employers.
My 3 hours a week job is audio-typing sports results for the Press Association on Saturdays. I don’t want to give it up to get a job with more hours. I want extra hours on top. So far, I’ve had some leafleting bookings through Slivers, working for a housing association. But I’m looking forward to more.
