Local Strategic Partnership

LSP's can use their relationships and access to funding to get a local market for Slivers-of-Time off the ground. Objectives around tackling worklessness and social inclusion can be refined as available work is spread around. Launching a market for spare hours of local people simply requires enough work channeled through it to keep residents who want to sell their Slivers-of-Time engaged with the new facility.
First step for any LSP interested in this possibility should be to examine the spending of members in the context of our section on Slivers-of-Time Work v. job creation. If there is sufficient spending available, it may be worth polling local people to find the extent of demand. We can offer a neutral set of questions drawn up by academics at Middlesex University Social Sciences department to form the basis of a survey.
It is possible one or more adjoining LSPs could combine spending power of partners to give birth to a wide-area Slivers-of-Time marketplace. Particular public sector budgets to examine include:
- Leafleting/market research
- Home support initiatives
- Wardens
- Environmental improvements
- Existing employability initiatives that may be suitable for a Slivers-of-Time component
